There are so many hair straighteners on the market today that choosing the right kind can be quite daunting.
When the first hair straighteners were developed, ghd were pretty much the only brand worth considering. Fast forward to today and almost every beauty brand has a straightener of some kind.
Today I have scoured the internet to track down all of the popular hair straightener brands and put them all in one place. As I come across more brands worthy of a mention amongst the best of hair straighteners I will add them to this resource.
The original and in my opinion, one of the best brands available for quality and salon style results. The UK based company stands for Good Hair Day and is one of the most used straighteners in salons around the country. ghd was launched in 2001 and have gone on to release a series of straighteners for all hair types.
If you have thicker hair you will benefit from using their wide plated model, the ghd V Gold Max Styler, with plates at 2 inches wide.
And the good news is that ghd haven’t just stuck with straighteners. They have over the years developed further products including hair dryers, curling tongs and brushes.
My other go to brand for professional results is Cloud 9. They launched their first straighteners, the Original, in 2009. The founder of Cloud 9, Robert Powls, was also one of the founders of ghd, so you know the products produced are going to be of equally high quality.
Many people wonder whether Cloud 9 are any better than ghd – having used straighteners from both companies I find it hard to pit one above the other and users are very divided. I regularly use the Cloud 9 Wide Straighteners and love the results. I like that you can adjust the temperature. You can check out my review in full here.
And just like ghd, Cloud 9 have branched out from just selling straighteners. They also now offer hair dryers and curlers in their range.
Remington are a one stop shop for everything hair and beauty. They are currently celebrating 80 years in business and they have an impressive catalogue of products to show for it. In terms of straighteners, they currently have 14 straighteners available to buy, including a wet to dry model, a straightening brush, mini travel straighteners and their latest innovation, the Remington Air Plates.
I like that Remington cater for all budgets, with cheaper straighteners all the way up to the more expensive Air Plate Model.
BaByliss are another company that have been around for a long time. Founded in Paris in 1961, BaByliss is now owned by the American Conair Group. BaByliss have produced a wide range of successful products including curling tongs, heated rollers, straighteners as well as various other hair and beauty appliances.
Their Diamond range is incredibly popular and includes an electric straightening brush, hair dryer, straightener and their famous hot air brush.
